General precautions for jewelry care
To extend the life of your jewelry, we recommend that you remove it before swimming, showering, cleaning, exercising, sleeping, or sunbathing. It is also important to avoid direct contact with soap, sweat, chlorine, salt water, and perfume, as these can accelerate discoloration of the jewelry.
Jewelry cleaning
Silver jewelry
To keep your silver jewelry shiny, you should polish it regularly with a soft cloth or a special silver polishing cloth. When not in use, store your jewelry in an airtight environment to prevent oxidation.
Mild soap wash
Start by filling a bowl with warm water and adding a few drops of mild dish soap. Let the jewelry sit in the water for 5-10 minutes before gently scrubbing it with a soft toothbrush or cloth. Rinse it well under running water and then dry it with a soft cloth to remove all water.
Baking soda and water
Make a mild paste of baking soda and water. Apply the paste to the jewelry and scrub gently with a soft toothbrush to avoid scratching. Rinse the jewelry thoroughly afterwards to remove all traces of the cleaner, and dry it with a soft cloth to avoid water spots.
Vinegar and baking soda
Place the jewelry in a bowl and cover it with white vinegar. Then add two tablespoons of baking soda. Leave the jewelry in the solution for 2-3 hours, rinse it well, and dry it thoroughly afterwards.
Gold-plated jewelry
To clean gold-plated silver jewelry, use a soft cloth to avoid scratches. Avoid using harsh chemicals that can damage the gold plating. When cleaning, follow the same method as for silver jewelry, but be extra careful with scrubbing to avoid wearing away the gold plating.
Avoid using abrasive cloths or scrubbing brushes, as these can damage the gold plating. Instead, use a mild soap and water solution with a soft cloth or brush. To restore the shine to your jewelry, use a polishing cloth made specifically for gold-plated jewelry.
Extra tips
To keep your jewelry looking its best, clean it regularly to avoid the build-up of dirt and oxidation. Store jewelry in individual bags or a jewelry box to avoid scratches and oxidation. Always remove jewelry before bathing, swimming, or applying perfume and lotions.
Avoid using harsh cleaners or bleach as these can damage both the metal and any stones in the jewelry. If you are unsure about a cleaning method, test it on a small area of the jewelry first to see how it reacts.
Caring for cubic zirconia and other stones
Polish gemstones such as cubic zirconia with a jewelry cloth dedicated to gemstones to avoid damaging the surface. Avoid using ultrasonic cleaners and harsh chemicals.
By following these care tips, your Loulouis jewelry will continue to be a dazzling addition to your jewelry collection for years to come. Explore, shine, and feel the joy of durable jewelry at Loulouis .
